Dallas Modern

Project Year: 2016

William T Brown, II

Our client and old friend, Bill Brown, chose our cross-cut Ostra Shellstone for his modern new residence in inner urban Dallas on the site of a tear down in an old established Dallas neighborhood.  This choice was based on his prior experience using this same stone some years before on another residence he built on Gasparilla Island  off of the west coast of Florida.

The primary attribute of the Ostra Limestone is that is holds no heat and is comfortable for sitting or walking even in midday sun in mid-summer.  It is also frost resistant and easy to keep clean.  The photographs show an upper exterior deck and the pool deck itself, with one showing a close-up detail of the shell fossils in the stone.  There is also a photograph showing the use of a split-face version of our Macedonia cladding for the fireplace wall.
